Col (USAF Retired) Norman McDaniel was a Prisoner of War (POW) in North Vietnam for six and one half years. He began his life as a son of Southern Sharecropper in segregated North Carolina. He worked his way through college, at North Carolina A&T State University, and was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the United States Air Force in 1959. He subsequently earned his Masters Degree in Systems Management from Florida Institute of Technology..
During his period of captivity, he was awarded the Silver Star for Valor for his leadership in the POW camps. He is also the recipient of three Legions of Merit, Bronze Star with "V" Valor Device and three Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal with fourteen bronze stars. He currently is a professor of Systems Acquisition at the Defense Systems Management College.
